The grad project is a state requirement designed to be completed in a student in his/her senior year. However, I would encourage all of our gifted students to complete it in the spring of junior year or the summer between junior and senior year. This may provide an opportunity to develop potential interests in college majors, an idea for a college essay, or just an opportunity for growth during a time when you have more time rather than when burdened by the college application process. There are basically three options:
1. volunteer work
2. some type of internship
3. a formal internship during the final weeks of senior year instead of attending class (after AP exams).

The WSD Course of Studies Booklet contains information about special programs on p. 11-12, including Virtual High School in which you can take classes not offered at WHS on line, as part of your scheduled day. 2014-2015 Program of Studies Booklet It gives additional information about how to take approved coursework over the summer or elsewhere. Interested students should speak to Ms Pronko well in advance of such plans to make sure they are approvable and feasible.

Through the North Montco tech school two exciting programs exist. They both require some advance planning in terms of course selection and you must have your own transportation: Allied Health, an opportunity to shadow doctors on their rounds in the hospital for roughly the first 3 periods of the school day and Biotech, which provides mentored practical lab experience and additional coursework. Both programs will result in WSD credit.
